okay, Team California may be out...

We have ground squirrels.

They have eaten all but one pumpkin seedling, and I'm sure they'll find it.

I saw them romping around in there this weekend, but I was too ill to move.

So, until either we find a ground-squirrel-eating dog to borrow, or I find some impossible contraption that magically can thwart squirrels, I think we have no hope re: getting this done.

Which means I'll be depending upon YOU all to post pictures of your plants so we can live vicariously through you.

=)

And, Joyce, any time you wanna visit and conduct some varmint-control, we'd LOVE it!

xoxo

  1. Ground squirrels? Are they different from tree squirrels?

  2. Oh, yeah. Our grey tree squirrels show NO interest in our garden. The ground squirrels are EVERYWHERE. They'd much rather eat our chicken's chicken feed and our sprouting bean seeds than acorns. They LAUGH at acorns.

Only when I started trying to grow my own food and raise chickens did I start to FEEL the word "varmint." Now, I get it. =)
